Board of Directors
Sigma Lambda Alpha Sorority, Inc. is governed by its National Board of Directors. The Board consists of six elected directors, all of alumnae sisters, who serve a two-year term. They super vise all business done for the sorority and serve as official spokeswomen for the entity across the nation.

Carmen Castro
Carmen Castro returns for a second-term as Executive Director. She serves as the minority media relations specialist for Open Channels Group, a public relations firm in Fort Worth, TX. In addition, she works for Southeast Weed & Seed. Ms. Castro earned a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Texas Christian University. She is a Beta Chapter, Fall 2001 Marvelous Mu Class product. She has served on the national board at some capacity since its evolvement in 2004. During her tenure, she has seen the governing board become NBOD, assist the sorority in earning its articles of incorporation, and contributed to the establishment of the CSU Colony and Zeta Chapter at The University of Texas at Dallas.
Amanda Acosta
Amanda Acosta returns for a second term, but this time as Associate Director. She resides in Mansfield, TX. She works as a financial associate for Citigroup and earned a finance degree from the University of Texas-San Antonio. Ms. Acosta is a Fall 2003 Lovely Lambda Class product of Epsilon Chapter. Previously, she served as director of public relations and created The Eagle’s Nest newsletter. She also re-launched our national website.
Jennifer Moreno
Jennifer Moreno, returns as Director of Finance, and currently resides in San Antonio, TX where she works for Coach America in as an accounting revenue supervisor. Miss Moreno is a Beta Chapter Alum- Spring 2002 Nu Class Inductee. She has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education/ESL. Ms. Moreno performed as the only alumna on the 2007 winning Silk Stroll Team in Dallas, TX. She was part of the transition for the sorority’s governing entity from the Governing Board to National Board of Directors.
Iris Reyes
Iris Gonzales enters the board as Director of Expansion. She is a graduate of Texas Christian University and has a B.S. in Bilingual Education. Ms. Reyes is a Fall 2004 Sweetie Pi Line product of the Beta Chapter. She brings plenty of social networking and a long standing PNM director experience. She is also part of the legendary Silk Stroll Championship Texas Team. She is currently a Dual Language Kindergarten teacher with the White Settlement Independent School District.
Joanna Bernal
Joanna Bernal enters the board as Director of Public Relations. She graduated from Texas Christian University with a B.S. in Advertising and Public Relations, a minor in the Psychology. Ms. Bernal is a product of the Spring 2005 Ravishing Rho Class. She has served in various leadership roles including as an undergraduate representative for the board.
Lorena Leon
Lorena Leon currently works at Freescale Semiconductor as a Product Packaging Engineer. She obtained her B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Texas Christian University where she joined SLA in 2003 with the Xi PNM line. Lorena was sister of the year and La Rosa for SLA in 2006. Lorena enjoys promoting STEM fields to young students. Her hobbies include movies, dancing salsa, community service activities, crafting, playing with her puppy Zorro, and shopping.
